Buying Text Links - What's The Need?

I am not telling you that you should not buy links. However, if you do, you should fully understand the risks that you are taking. As you'll see below, there's really no need to buy text links anymore.

The risk that you're taking is that you website could get slapped or even taken out of Google. The Google Webmaster Guidelines addresses "link buying" as Link Schemes.

Google gives us the following examples of Link Schemes:

• Links intended to manipulate PageRank
• Links to web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web
• Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you.")
• Buying or selling links that pass PageRank

With all the Google slaps and crack-downs, it's simply more profitable to be completely Google-friendly these days.
